Project-Dyson Sphere

An Abstracted Minimalist Dyson Sphere

Concept:

The concept of Dyson sphere is that, in order to maintain massive energy consuming demand, a higher level civilization would be more likely to build a megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its power output.

My ongoing game project partially refers to this very idea, in which players are allowed to build a Dyson sphere when they reach a certain level of progress. Conventionally, the Sci-fi setting of conducting such a megastructure had often been depicted as aggressiveness or somehow being magnificent rather than rationality and subtlety. (as following pics indicated)

Poetry Moment:

One poetic moment of this game is when players are able to start the project of Dyson ball (which means they begin to become a level 1 civilization). The reason for that is before they become the type 1, the UI of this game is largely occupied by numbers, text ,and a bunch of wireframes for selection (which means less and less visual feedback at the very beginning of this game). The idea is similar to the game “Universal Paper Clips”. To create an “Aha!” moment by first applying sensory deprivation.

Sounds List for ambient needing:

The music in this game are used to support the poetry element. The electronic textures, sense of progression and sense of rationality are taken into consideration.

Type I civilization, also called a planetary civilization:

Aes Dana – Grassland

A Type II civilization, also called a stellar civilization (the level where there Dyson Sphere is built):

Ajja – Nubian Sandstone

A Type III civilization, also called a galactic civilization:

BT – Seven Hundred Thirty Nine
